Bet types and the arithmetic behind them

Choosing a bet type is a calculation, not a matter of taste. The same opinion about a fixture produces a completely different outcome distribution depending on whether it is staked as a single, folded into an accumulator or spread across a system. This page presents the types through their numbers and leaves the recommendations out.

Singles

One selection, one price. A 10 EUR stake at 1.85 returns 18.50 EUR, a net 8.50 EUR. The advantage is transparency: the slip shows exactly where a result came from and a log stays readable. It is also the only structure in which one incorrect settlement does not carry away the entire slip.

Accumulators

Prices multiply and every selection has to land. Four selections at 1.85 produce a combined price of about 11.7 — but if each lands 54 per cent of the time, the whole slip clears roughly 8.5 per cent of the time. The price looks large precisely because completion is rare.

SelectionsCombined price at 1.85 eachClearance at a 54 % hit rate
23.42about 29 %
36.33about 16 %
411.72about 8.5 %
640.1about 2.5 %

The table is an illustrative calculation rather than a forecast. Its purpose is to make visible that adding selections raises the price faster than it lowers completion — which is exactly the property that makes accumulators popular.

System bets

A system splits the stake across several combinations. Three selections requiring two correct produce three doubles, so a 30 EUR stake becomes 10 EUR per combination and the slip returns something on two hits. In exchange, the full-house payout falls well below the accumulator equivalent. A system is a trade between variance and maximum return, not a way to improve expectation.

Campaign minimum prices steer the choice

Bonus bets and refund offers almost always specify a minimum price below which a selection does not qualify. In practice that pushes bettors away from short-priced singles and toward accumulators, which is a design feature rather than an accident. Read the line before building the slip, otherwise the promotional credit is lost on a purely technical ground. The value of any such credit is then calculated through its wagering condition: 35× the amount with a 14-day window, so a 20 EUR bonus bet represents 700 EUR of turnover. The method is under wagering requirements.

What to log for each type

Since Veikkaus holds the exclusive right to organise gambling in Finland and no Finnish authority supervises an international bookmaker, those records are the only basis for a later conversation about a settlement. The route is described on the betting overview and in more detail under complaints. Sport-specific settlement differences appear under football and cricket.

Are accumulators better value than singles?
The price grows, but completion probability falls faster. The bookmaker margin compounds across every selection, so over time an accumulator is not the cheaper structure.
What happens if one leg of an accumulator is voided?
The voided leg is normally treated at odds of one and the slip settles on the remaining selections. The rule is stated in the betting terms.
How many combinations does a system contain?
It depends on the number of selections and how many are required. The slip view states the combination count and the stake per combination before submission.
Do system bets qualify for promotions?
Some campaigns accept them and others require a single or accumulator at a minimum price. Read the eligibility line before building the slip.
